Good health to everyone. My name is Lahpai Bawk Mai. I am a student at the Alen Bum School for Internally Displaced Children. In this artwork, I express my feelings, implying that we, the Kachin people, are suffering as a result of the brutal Burmese army. Children and parents were separated while fleeing the fighting. Innocent children were killed. Young people are being persecuted and are not permitted to attend school. These feelings are always “alive but lifeless” for us Kachin people. I’m hoping that my international brothers and sisters will love my painting and support us. When I grow up, I want to be a university professor who can help my country in some way. Thank you all so much.
